The Right Way to Wash Your Refillable Water Bottles

For the climate, refillable water bottles are safer. First, they're much more fashionable than plastic bottles. Second, they're great for your hydration and nutrition. Yeah, well, if only you can clean it correctly, but If you don't clean your water bottle you can get infected with germs and bacteria. Water bottles can be an easy tool to get you to stay hydrated while maintaining a refillable water bottle close at the workplace and when you're working out.

And if we are honest, many of us probably don't wash our water bottles often enough. So, how often then? Well, If you use your water bottle regularly, you should wash it each and every day then. But hey! You don't have to worry about this; washing a bottle is not a dreaded mission. You can clean the refillable water bottle (and the reusable straws too!) in less than five minutes by following these simple steps below.

Okay, Before We Start the Tutorial, You'll Need Some of These Tools:

  • Paper towel or clean dish towel
  • Bottlebrush (like this one)
  • Straw cleaners (like these)
  • Water bottle cleaning tablets (optional, such as these)
  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Bleach (optional)
  • Vinegar (optional)

Now, Let’s Get Roll Into The Tutorials:

1. For day-to-day cleaning: Wash at least once a day, your refillable water bottle. Fill the bottle with hot water and a fluid squirt. Wipe the walls and the bottom of the bottle with the bottle brush. Make sure not only the inside but also clean the bottle lip thoroughly. Gently exfoliate.

2. It is a great idea to dry the bottle with a paper towel or fresh dishtowel as bacteria thrive in a humid environment; otherwise, you may spread new bacteria on the clean water bottles. If you prefer to leave the bottle air dry, simply leave the cap off, or the moisture trapped will create a perfect environment for germs.

3. Place it on the top of the dishwasher's rack and select the hottest water setting if your water bottle has been dishwasher safe (check the label for details).

4. To wash correctly: If your water bottles smell bad or you have ignored it for too much time, it's time to clean deeper. Fill the bottles with hot water and add a tablespoon of bleach. Let it sit overnight and rinse thoroughly until following the above drying instructions.

5. Fill the bottle halfway with vinegar, and then add cold water if you choose not to use bleach. Allow the solution to sit overnight, thoroughly rinse and run through the washing machine.

6. For a full inspection, no need for scrubbing, use those water bottle cleaning tablets, which consumers guarantee will extract taste and smell.

7. Ensure to also rinse your water bottle lid or cap with warm water and liquid dishwashing day by day. If your bottle consists of several pieces, separate the bottles before cleaning and make sure that the crevices are not gritty.

8. Wash the reusable straws: You would certainly want to invest in a package of straw purifiers if you are a fan of reusable straws. With a warm water solution or dishwashing fluid, let the cleaners scrub off any gunk within each stroke. Rinse using warm water, and run through the device in the cubicle when the strokes are dishwasher-safe.
