6 Assistive Devices to Help Learners Achieve Maximum Potential

The rate of U.S. learners participating in special education services has grown 30 percent over the last ten years.

Today, in almost every general classroom in the country, the National Education Association has at least one learner with a disability. As the amount of these learners grows, teachers and educators continually use assistive technology to help learners from all levels of ability to learn more successfully and reach their maximum potential.

Assistive technology can address learners ' needs at all levels of education and skills. Teachers can now use the following six criteria to assess how their pupils ' lives in and out of the classroom can better be improved.

1. Reminder/Time Management Apps Keep Learners on Track

Children with a hyperactivity disorder can easily be distracted, making it difficult for them to complete homework and other activities. Teachers may use a time management program to help learners create assignments, determine the time they have to achieve them, and allow a countdown of the minutes or hours remaining for the task.

This can help inspire students to complete tasks, focus more on functions and reduce delays. A vibrating watch that prompts learners to reconsider their tasks is also an excellent way to get them back on the track without having to step in as an instructor.

2. Text-to-Speech E-Books and Audiobooks Make Reading Easier

Text-to-speech aid software is designed to help children with visual impairment or other impairments that influence their reading skills. TTS can take words on a screen or other digital device with a single click or a finger touch and translate them to audio. This technology facilitates comprehension and increases general education for sighted students by encouraging them to concentrate on the meaning of words rather than their brainpower on trying to understand the words.

Many e-book readers also have dyslexia-friendly fonts that help readers distinguish between letters and avoid jumping together words.

Audiobooks are another resource educator who can make reading easier for learners who are struggling to understand words on a page. Audiobooks allow students to hear the letter and letter pattern sounds, shaping words that improve vocabulary and awareness of reading. Teachers can use audiobook software to provide access to digital collections for schools and public libraries anytime or anywhere. Audiobooks are useful tools for learners with learning disabilities, beginners or second-language students.

3. FM Systems Help Learners Stay Engaged

Hearing loss educators have trouble understanding and interpreting all of the sounds in the classroom. Radio broadcast technology is used by FM systems to connect the teacher and learner via audio. Educators talk to the microphone and directly relay their voice to the hearing aid of a student.

This helps students to hear the instructor more clearly without peers or other background noise disturbances. It also decreases reverb, sound distortion, and tiredness of listening increases clarity of speech and comprehension.

4. Gamification Offers an Alternative Approach to Learning

Teachers and educators begin to use instruments that can promote new and innovative educational games to the curriculum with the popularity of video games.

Most students have spent years playing video games that include activities, stages, obstacles, and instant feedback. Teachers can understand the fun of children by using educational technology tools that make learning play smoother for learners to comprehend ideas and help them become more successful learners.

Gamification makes learning fun for learners, offers interactiveness in several subjects and gives a sense of success with incentives and points for complete tasks. These resources include reading apps that include interactive elements and video game-inspired awards, including badges for students who finish their homework and rewards for reading and writing words.

5. Graphic Organizers Presents Information More Effectively

Graphics organizers are an excellent tool to help students coordinate their thoughts. These systems incorporate text with graphics to demonstrate the link between concepts in the form of internet, theory and cognitive maps. This makes it easier for every learner to grasp large amounts of information. It can be extended through curricula to help students think and learn and understand the subject. As a result, students remember what they've already learned for more extended periods by visually arranging knowledge so that they can comprehend it.

6. Experiential Learning Helps Learners Retain Content

Experiential learning is a practical and attractive way of motivating distracted learners. Research showed that we remember 20% of what we hear, 30% of what we see, and up to 90% of what we do or simulate.

Experiential learning activities allow teachers to convert lessons from abstract concepts to concrete experiences to understand better and remember things.

While experience learning is not a new method of learning, educators are continuing to use innovative technology for VR and AR to develop it. These technologies offer infinite immersive opportunities for learning, eliminate time and geographic limitations, and bring students into contact with experiences to which they would otherwise not have exposure.

VR and AR technology can help students develop skills in communication and critical thinking, process information faster, and promote innovation and collaboration.

Through these actively encouraging technologies, teachers will ensure that students have academic skills, physical development and encouragement to succeed
